When people think of Chicago style pizza, they picture Deep Dish, but we locals think of a Thin Crust also known as Tavern Style. Back in the 1940s, this square cut pizza was made for sharing at, well, taverns. This pizza is the basis of Alexander James' most playful release yet. In collaboration with Red5WatchWorks and AndoAndoAndo, the A3 Tavern Style uses an embossed dial that captures the look of a Chicago Tavern Style Pizza to near perfection. The dial is "sliced" into squares with grooves in the dial and features pepperonis that are raised above the cheese! If you look close enough, there are 3 pepperonis with logos of collaborators on them! The A3 Tavern style is powered by the suitably thin Miyota 9039 movement and is housed by the A3 case, first featured in the A3 Omens.
A3 Tavern Style sits in Alexander James's catalog as a dress-leaning independent watch worth comparing on the details: imagery, movement, case sizing, water resistance, and the official brand listing rather than headline price alone.
