The companion chronograph for pilots with GMT bezel and sapphire crystal. In the 1960s, flying was not only reserved for daredevil fighters, a big group were amateur pilots and loved this peculiar hobby. They were flying for fun, not for war, but they still needed a very legible watches that could provide precious information in the cockpit. These tool watches appeal to the adventurer in me, I can't escape seeing them worn under a flight jacket while piloting an airplane in the glamorous 1960's. They focus on the bare essentials for the heroes of that period, and some 50 years later still look rough and sexy. - DH
1963 sits in Dan Henry's catalog as a chronograph-leaning independent watch worth comparing on the details: imagery, movement, case sizing, water resistance, and the official brand listing rather than headline price alone.
